List of Favorites

A few months ago a friend of mine sent out an email blast with the subject: where do you dessert? She wanted to “expand her dessert horizons” and find new places to get something sweet. We were both surprised by the length of my response. Little did we know… I was a font of dessert knowledge! So to get this blog started, I have to ask… where do you dessert?

In my younger days, before I became very concerned about my cholesterol level, I would judge an eating establishment by the quality of its desserts. The main dishes, while important of course, took a back seat to the quality of the dessert offerings. So, in tribute to those wonderful days, here goes:

Sam Choy’s Breakfast Lunch & Crab: The banana split was terrific! Generous scoops of ice cream! A whole banana! I would tell anyone who listened that the banana split was the perfect meal: dairy protein, calcium, a healthy banana, and nuts for fiber!

Henry Loui’s: They served a large slice of mud pie that was sinfully delicious.

Hmmm, my salivating mouth is distracting my brain cells, so I will sign off for now.

    Thanks for asking!

  2. Hmmm, from a long line of choices I would say the place that fascinates me the most at this time…primarily because I haven’t tried everything, is Patisserie la Palme D’or. They have beautiful French pastries and interesting milk drinks you can sip on as you shop. When they first opened if you bought something to take home they gave you a little gel cold pack to keep it cool. I think you may have to buy it now but it was worth the purchase. Ono, interesting, creamy desserts. You can buy coffee and stand and eat but I never did. They have cookies that look too uninteresting and expensive to buy. Never tried them. But that’s my today’s big bite!

  3. Ooops, it’s at Ala Moana Shopping center on the middle level I think, near Borders. Right next to the stairwell I always get the levels mixed up, sorry!

I like the “pot de creme” at the Honolulu Academy of Arts Pavilion Cafe. They have other good stuff there also.

  5. I don’t have a favorite dessert-place but I did once have a fabulous unforgettable dessert at 3660. It was an extraordinary Peach Bread Pudding — velvety moist and custardy; not stiff or dense; laden with smooth hot peaches…mmmmm

Your site has the potential to be a very tasty one!

  6. My favorite dessert is the cholcolate sin cake from Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.
